This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend a Title I school in Charlotte, North Carolina. My students are still eager to come to school and learn daily despite challenges they may face at home. When my students enter the classroom, I want them to know that I care about everything they are experiencing but most importantly keeping them focused on what will help them have a great future. My students will understand the importance of education and how far it will carry them and see what success looks like.
The word I've have selected for my students this year is motivate.
I will motivate my students to push through activities and assignments.
My Project
My team teacher and I are offering free tutoring to our students after school for math and ELA. We are tutoring twice a week for 2 hours. Our students attend a Title I school and as you can only imagine our paychecks can not afford to provide snacks for these students to stay after school and receive extra instructional support that will help them achieve the scores they need to make it to the next grade level. We feel like because we are offering our free services, we should not ask the parents to provide snacks for the students.
I will select healthy snacks that our students can enjoy quickly while getting an extra boost of instructional knowledge.
