My Students

My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures, and socioeconomic homes. They are truly a wonderful bunch of students that all interact very well with one another. I learn something new about one of my students every day. The life experiences that some of my students have gained before the age of 13 is outstanding.

My students love interactive lessons and respond well to positive attention.

Some of my students first "Good Morning" of the day comes from me when they walk through my classroom doors. People will hear me talk about my students as "my kids". I love each and every one of my students and consider them all to be my very own kids.

My Project

Freak the Mighty is a young adult novel by Rodman Philbrick. By reading and studying this novel, students can learn how the characters overcome each others physical and educational differences. This is a great book to read with students because of its focus on bullying and friendship. With reading the novel, my students and I will do learning activities that put my students in the shoes of the characters and think beyond the text. Students can take parts of the novel and apply these concepts to problems or experiences in their own lives. Freak the Mighty is a wonderful novel to study with older students.
