I teach an inquisitive, motivated group of advanced fourth graders who learn by questioning and creating. Design and innovation are integrated into all we do, and the goal is to provide hands-on experiences so that learning comes to life. Ours is a collaborative classroom where students work together to make sense of the world around them. Through exploration and problem solving, students are better able to understand and make a difference in the world they live in. Learning in our class is an adventure!
My Project
Fractured fairy tales are so enjoyable to read and yet also have many benefits for students. By adding a library of fractured fairy tales to our classroom, students will be able to compare and contrast the tales of their youth while playing with their imagination, developing even more effective listening skills, and challenging perspectives.
A library of fractured fairy tales will help students to examine stereotypes and to decide if those stereotypes are something they might want to change.
After reading a variety of tales, students will gain inspiration and understanding of structure in order to write their own fractured tales. By examining the tale from a different point of view students will not only stretch their writing skills but also their understanding of others.
