Fractions Speak Louder Than Words

My Students

My students are a thoughtful, energetic, and creative group of children. They are always willing to help the others in the rooms with whatever they need help with. They love active learning, collaborative work, and working through problems while using their hands-on projects. At school, they are willing to try new things, create relationships, and grow independently as well as a group. They are the example we all wish to have of true kindness and willingness in the world.

They read, work on phonics, and work on math growth throughout the day.

Each day as they are working on these skills, they are growing and strengthening the skills to be successful in life. The love of learning these students have has only grown, which is what I, as an educator, love to see.

My Project

One of the most critical moments of learning to work with fractions is when you work with manipulatives. Giving my students that chance to get to work hands on with the idea of fractions will allow them to grow their knowledge in fractions.

To bring the students a chance to work with the manipulatives on their own, the classroom is in need of more sets.

Although we teach to share, the students will be able to explore and learn more about fractions by doing it on their own. The learning from others would come from the conversations they are able to have after exploring themselves.
