My Students

My fourth grade students are from a small rural school with a high-poverty population. My students face many struggles that other students do not have to worry about. Although we may be a small community with lots of needs, our students are some of the most hard-working students. I am proud of how, no matter what is going on in their lives, they come to school, every day, ready for the challenge. They deserve the best classrooms we can possibly have because they are the best students we could possibly have.

My Project

Fractions can be hard concepts to learn and having manipulatives and visual aids can make fractions easier. The magnetic fraction representations will allow my students to understand how fractions compare in sizes. With the number line boards, my students can focus on learning how to use a number line instead of trying to focus on drawing it or making it perfect to make sure the spaces are right.

Fractions are important life skills because we use fractions every day when we cook, in our jobs, and managing time.

My job as a teacher is to prepare my students for their future and with these materials, learning fractions would be easier for them and me.
