Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I was given a wonderful opportunity to transfer to school within my current school district. My new school is located in the same urban school district. My school district is a Title One District. To qualify to be a Title One District a majority of the students come from low income homes.

My students are eager to learn and as an educator I want to provide my students with every opportunity to enjoy learning and be a successful life long learner.

My Project

The 3rd grade Common Core Curriculum has a large unit on fractions. The unit includes identifying fractions to a whole and comparing fractions with same and different denominators.

My students will use the fraction towers to compare fractions with the same and different denominators.

The comparing of fraction can be a difficult task for some of my students. The fraction towers are a hands on, as well as a visual learning tool, that will give my students the opportunity to see the difference or similarity of the fractions. The fraction towers present the visual representation that my students need to be successful.
