Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Teachers who love teaching, teach children who love learning." As I enter my twentieth year of teaching, I continue to follow this mantra in my classroom. I teach twenty-eight, wonderful students who come from poverty. My students are from varying ethnic backgrounds. Most of them come from homes that are struggling financially.
My students are extremely motivated and they are genuinely respectful of each other.
They are lovers of learning and I am truly grateful to be their teacher this year. They come to school with smiles on their faces and they are eager to learn. We need new books to use in our literacy centers.
My Project
First grade is such an important and exciting year in a child's life. It is the year that students will not only learn to read, but they will learn to become independent thinkers and problem solvers. Research shows that students in the primary grades learn best by exploring and interacting with others. We will use these requested fraction tiles during our math centers, indoor recess, and math time. These materials will allow my students to work with each other to learn all about fractions and equal parts. These centers are designed to engage my students in their learning, and at the same time allow them to work together and have fun.
We need fun and engaging materials to use for math centers to encourage independent thinking and problem solving.
The students will use these math tiles to learn about fractions. These materials will encourage critical thinking and problem solving in my students.
