My Students

My students desire to learn and want to excel in everything they attempt, and math is no exception. They are very inquisitive, excited, nervous, and engaged children who through hands-on activities and real-world examples can understand, grasp and increase their knowledge of any math topic.

Math scared many of my students because they did not understand it.

Through hard work, by the end of the year, they not only understood it, they enjoyed it. My students never gave up and through their hard work came to understand math.

My Project

Many of my students come to 6th grade unsure about fractions. They work hard to understand but struggle to grasp this concept due to the time constraints we have. Through the use of fraction equivalency cubes, students will be able to see visually how fractions, decimals, and percentages are related and compared. These cubes will help to strengthen their understanding of this particular concept.

With the fractional concept strengthened, other math concepts are easier to grasp and understand.

The concept of fractions is a struggle for many students throughout their scholastic career, and if their fractional (part-to-part) foundation concept is strengthened now, there is nothing but success as they progress throughout their mathematical career. Grasping the part-to-part and part-to-whole concepts are vital to the success of math and real life for them.
