Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students primarily come from low-income families and are primarily English language learners. My students benefit heavily from print-rich environments, a heavy focus on vocabulary, and repetition. My students’ parents come from all over the world, and their interests are as diverse as their cultures. My students are interested in anime, soccer, painting, food, dance, reading, drawing, and more. We live in Austin, Texas, and my students' parents come from all around the world.

My students work hard, and they deserve a math class that is engaging, fun, and created for them.

My Project

We will use our chefs' hats, checkered table cloths, and bakery items to makeover the classroom to create an engaging space for practicing what we've learned about fractions!

Most importantly, we will celebrate everything we've learned before our STAAR test at our GLOW party!

Students will have highlighters, neon task cards, and the black lights will create a fun and exciting atmosphere as we celebrate.

These experiences are not something my students get often, but they deserve an authentic and comparable experience to their peers in more affluent neighborhoods!
