My Students
This is my 29th year in the field of education. I am fortunate enough that I have completed all of those years in the same school district, will all but one year being in 4th grade. My students are from a rural PreK-5 school where 100% receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many families relied upon paper mill employment prior to several mills in our area closing.
This has added stress to not only the home, but the local community as well. Budgets are often tight and limited to the basics.
Despite the hardships, my students come to school with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. To say 4th grade is my favorite is an understatement!
My Project
Flexible seating is an opportunity for the student to choose a seating spot that will benefit their learning. When a student is engaged and focused, they are able to be more in control of their learning.
I have used stability balls for the last few years but would like to add more choice for the students.
Currently I do not have enough options available to my students, and each day there are some who don't get a choice. My goal is to add variety and have enough choices for ALL students in my classroom. This project would allow me to provide those options and choice!
