Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

School, these days, has never been more difficult than it is now. The pandemic has set our students back in so many ways. My students are very hard working but they struggle with our fourth grade math curriculum. Some of that has to do with not being able to actually manipulate materials so they can make real world connections. I was a new teacher when we closed down and have not had time to grow my classroom materials or manipulatives. Having these items will benefit my hands on learners immensely.

As for the organizational items, it is my hope and belief that our class will be more efficient and effective if we have a set system of organization for our materials.

Our school has flexible seating but what comes with that is just tables, no desks. My students have no where to put their materials in the classroom so it is easy for them to lose their assignments and materials. I transferred to this school during the pandemic last year and then went on maternity leave at the beginning of this year so I have not been able to invest in a system to support my classroom organization. That is my hope for this amazing opportunity!
