My students need various art supplies, like beads, clay, mosaic stones, wonderfoam stickers, and more, to complete several artistic endeavors this school year. They also need materials, like foamboards, to display their projects proudly!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
According to Pablo Picasso, “Every child is an artist." My students need your help to discover the artists inside each of them. Substantial budget cuts to our arts program has left a void in the amount of art supplies available to our students.
My students have all been identified highly gifted.
These children have special needs and require a differentiated instructional program to provide them with a challenging and rigorous academic setting. My students are inquisitive and thoughtful. They love to learn! It is up to me to bring in as much supplemental materials as possible to stimulate their minds and encourage their exploration of new concepts. Since my students tend to perform very well on standardized tests, they are often overlooked and receive very little funding to support their educational program. Our district provides us only $15 per student to purchase supplemental materials for the entire program. We are a public school comprised of three classrooms. Our small school shares a campus with the resident school for this area. Our school is located in a mostly middle to low socioeconomic area. We have a very strong community and parent base who are all vested in providing support for student achievement.
My Project
Your generous donation will provide my students with various art supplies which will enable them to complete several art projects this school year. Although I strongly believe in the value of teaching art for art's sake, I also know that integrating the arts into the core curriculum provides another pathway for my students to access content in the areas of social studies, literature, math, and science. My students will learn about the architecture and function of the California Missions, for instance, by using the modeling clay and stone tiles to help them construct their own class mission. No "Mission Kits" for these fourth graders! Some of the supplies will be used by my students to design their own Roman Villa Gardens as we study the medicinal properties of plants. This lesson not only integrates art and science, but math as well. Students will also use the foamboards to proudly display their creations.
Like Picasso said, every child is an artist.
Sadly, it is becoming increasingly difficult to supply our students with the materials necessary to express the artists within. With these art supplies, not only will my students be able to express themselves artistically, they will connect more deeply with the curriculum being taught. Thank you for helping my students discover their inner artist while delving more deeply into the curriculum.
