Students at my school receive a rigorous, well-rounded education using an inquiry and project-based learning model.
Some of the twenty-first century skills that we strive for in our students are collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking (just to name a few).
My goal, as their music teacher, is to create an environment of exploration and enjoyment of learning through music and technology so all my students can be successful musicians. Through an interdisciplinary, hands-on approach, my students are able to grow individually and ultimately reach their highest potential through music exploration. The key to success for my students is my having high expectations, both in academics and behavior and by challenging them to always go the extra mile and not be afraid to take risks in music.
My Project
An instrument is not the only thing needed to be successful in band class. There are always tools that are needed to be successful in anything that we do. Some of the tools needed to be an accomplished musician in band class are method books. These method books will help emphasize performance fundamentals through warm-up exercises and step-by-step on how to play the different notes and fingerings on a student's instrument. Students will use these tools and accessories to practice and perform like a true musician. If provided with the necessary tools for my students, it will better their playing and overall willingness to play. If given these supplies it would lead to a better sound quality in our ensemble and would further our success as an instrumental program. With that said my students would have the courage to practice more.
This donation would help improve the morale of the students in the program.
When they hear something good, they want to recreate that sound each and every time. That's what is so great about music. Once that "light bulb" goes off in their head, they never want to turn it off. I want my students to strive to be better than they were the previous day.
