My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds. We have students whose parents are involved and set education as a priority and other students who are responsible for managing their own educational path.

My school is diverse, creative, empowering, and learning each day how to address the needs of our students.

We have found that reading data is hard to change, but we have discovered a new path in how to teach reading!

My Project

There are resources on Teachers Pay Teachers that will help me better understand how to teach my struggling students to fill the gaps they have in order to become fluent readers. This will help them to better comprehend and have more confidence in their ability to read.

Currently, I am learning about the Science of Reading.

As a 5th grade teacher I have never taught foundational skills, nor did I learn how to do this when I went to college or even my masters. My district has been wonderful with giving professional development, but I am still needing some additional information to help me be a better teacher.
