Mrs. Burnett from Miami FL is requesting Books through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

Fostering Understanding of Amazing Classics for Pre-Teens

Help me give my students the tools they need to analyze literary work. They use their flip charts to show their true rendering of characters and settings from the books they read, thanks to your generosity.

My Students

Our school, located in the heart of Miami-Dade County, is where our students learn in an environment where they feel safe and are challenged to reach their highest potential. More than 75% of our students have either free or reduced lunch.

Our diverse student population is what makes our school so great!

To see them get along and work together is what makes my days here at the school so satisfying. Working together on a project would enhance the feeling of community in our school.

My Project

Through the generosity of previous donors, my students have read many classics as well as Mythology themed books. They have used flip charts to show what they have learned of the characters and settings in these stories. This year, I am concentrating on my students learning the consequences of being with the wrong crowd, and the book Monster is the perfect book for the job. When each student has access to the book, it guarantees that they all have a chance.

It is the availability of books and supplies in my classroom that guarantees EVERY child has the chance to learn and prosper.

So many students don't have the means to make their dream a reality. A class set of the book Monster, along with paper for classroom projects, markers, and ink, frees them from worrying about not having the same supplies as the rest of the class.

Having Teacher Guides of the books currently in my classroom library enhances the learning experience and helps me introduce new and exciting literature into the curriculum.
