Fostering Student Learning Through Flexible Seating
Help me give my students the opportunity to wobble and wiggle while they work on their flexible seats to meet and achieve different learning styles and foster their learning!
My students are very excited to come to school and learn every day! Their feelings are shown through their beautiful smiles daily. They have a love for learning but some of my students have difficulty sitting in a straight hardback chair and further more, they are very uncomfortable. These students need to wiggle. Flexible seating would allow my students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive when they are given a choice of where to work.
My Project
Flexible seating will allow my students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them during independent work times, small group instruction, and whole group activities. During these times, my students can choose the flex-space wobble chairs, flex-space balance balls or the flex-space comfy seats to meet their different learning styles. Currently my students have no choice of where they sit. They are sitting on hard-back chairs that are uncomfortable and the students often lose focus of the given task. Many sit on the floor or even stand at times. When my students are given a choice in their seating, they almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement!
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! The comfy floor seats and the balance balls will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and hope that the additional options will help them grow even more academically!
