My students need access to all levels of good books. They need high interest books that they can read independently as well as I can read with/to them.
This year my classroom is filled with knowledge seeking 4th graders. With these avid readers books are flying off our classroom shelves. While this love and joy of reading is wonderful to see it is hard to to keep new, exciting and challenging books available. Please help me to provide access to ample reading materials for my students. I want to continue to add to our classroom library with both fiction and nonfiction books. I want to have a wide range of book levels and high interest book. Additionally, I want to add to the popular book series and provide multiple copies of the same book to allow for book clubs and book talks.
My Project
My school's focus is fostering a love of reading in all of our students. It's hard to do this when kids don't have access to a lot of books or the means to be taken to the library.
As a result of this, we try hard as teachers to keep well filled classroom libraries.
In order to do this I need different books of all levels and content that will interest my students. I also need high interest and thought provoking picture books to use when teaching reading skills/strategies.
I have picked books at various levels that will meet my students' needs. I have picked both fiction and nonfiction books, as well as authors that I know my students are interested in. I have also added a book set organized by Jennifer Serravallo, that matches our school chosen small group reading and writing curriculum.
