I believe that every student has the ability to succeed when they are given the proper resources. I teach in a Title 1 school where most of my students come from poverty-stricken homes. Although my parents are willing to put everything they have into their child/children, they are not able to help them achieve their academic goals due to a variety of different reasons. This is why in my classroom I try to expose my children to a variety of different resources to accommodate the wide rage of learners in my classroom. This is why I believe an exposure to technology is important in my classroom. Whether it is reading, writing, or math all of our lessons begin with a 'mini-lesson' which then leads to myself breaking the students off into smaller groups so I can help them with whatever they may be struggling with. With the contribution of Chromebooks in my classroom, I will be able to assign students customized work and lessons tailored to helping each student achieve his/her academic goals. I will do whatever I can to make sure my students receive resources to help them succeed!
My Project
In my classroom I spend a great deal of time focusing on small group instruction to meet the needs of all of my learners. The Chromebooks will allow me to differentiate instruction and to reach students that struggle with the learning in the 'traditional' fashion. My scholars will have access to apps like Zearn and IReady that will support their conceptual understanding of math and their math fluency. They will also have access to apps like Reading A-Z, which will support their phonemic and phonological awareness, reading accuracy, comprehension and their fluency. Using this type of technology will allow me to meet the needs of a variety of learners in my classroom.
