This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My 5th graders are 78 inquisitive, hard-working, and internationally-minded scholars ready to grow as readers and leaders! They need a work space that encourages and fosters inquiry and collaboration.
My students come from diverse backgrounds and greatly enjoy working with one another to develop inquiries and share ideas, but they do not have a work spaces that allows them to be organized.
They attend an IB PYP elementary school and need the opportunity to work in spaces that foster inquiry. They are currently seated in groups at different tables to encourage collaboration but need an organized work space to become more successful learners.
My Project
Chair pockets for 25 seats in my classroom will offer all my 5th graders a clean and organized work space to become successful learners. Long tables with five students per group can get crowded and stacks of books piled on top make it difficult to work.
Our 5th grade classroom is setup to encourage collaboration and inquiry; but with tables that do not have spaces to place books, my students find it difficult to work together effectively and stay organized.
Chair pockets will allow my students to work in an environment that is not messy, disorganized, or crowded. A clean space will allow my highly inquisitive scholars to thrive!
