Ms. Phillips from Milwaukee WI is requesting materials related to food, clothing & hygiene through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students the clothing and hygiene products that they need to be comfortable and happy in our school. Shoes, pants, and shirts are especially important for our students.

As a school social worker, I work with over 300 students every year to address concerns or needs in the areas of attendance, behavior, mental health, and community resources. Of those 300 students, over 92% are economically disadvantaged, meaning that they are in need of food, clothing, hygiene products, and more.
While they may be facing adversity at home or in the community, my students demonstrate creativity, hard work, fair play, and teamwork in our school building.
Without access to basic needs, however, school can often be a difficult place to navigate, especially for our students who are facing homelessness. I work with these students and their families to provide as many school and community resources as possible.
The shoes, pants, shirts, and hygiene products that we receive will go directly to students and families who face homelessness or are economically disadvantaged. My office and those of our school psychologist and parent coordinator serve as safe spaces for students and parents to come to when in need of resources.
With these new clothing and hygiene products, we will be able to provide these services directly to students and parents in need.
They will not need to seek outside services in order to obtain the shoes, pants, shirts, and hygiene products that they need to be successful during the school day.
