Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
What I love about my students is the thirst they have for learning, the way they dream and use those dreams to create. My students are very energetic and motivated to learn. They are excited to learn two languages hand by hand. I am always looking for ways to instill the passion to learn new things everyday to them and they are always willing to learn.
Being Dual language students is a lot of work and takes courage to do so, when you are predominant in one language but my get so encouraged to learn because of my testimony when I was in elementary and learned two languages like them.
They are excited to be worth for two ! They are smart,creative, motivated and very kind.
My Project
Research shows that the use of flexible seating in the classrooms inspires students to be more motivated to learn and focus by taking ownership and being responsible for having a productive day in school. This happens when the students get the opportunity to choose freely where to sit and produce their daily classroom work.
The fact that they get to sit where they want to sit , a place where they are going to be comfortable and happy takes away the anxiety or distraction from not paying attention in class because they are worried and unhappy where they are seating.
Flexible seating can be compared like when you go into a coffee shop to get some work done in your laptop or get together with school peers to complete a homework, at the coffee shop theirs a variety of seating options like sofas,bistro tables and chairs for us to pick and sit to work where we prefer the most.
Classrooms that have implemented flexible seating have shown to increase the focus of students in their studies as well as their standardized test scores! It has also shown to attract and help students with special needs as well. This is why I asked for wobble chairs and the flex space balance balls which helps student that move a lot back and forth in the students desks because they get restless sitting in one place without moving , these chairs and balls reduce restlessness and helps the students to focus while they learn. I also chose the beanbags seats and the canopy with the soft and safe tress seat to attract students to sit and move around in a soft seating and be motivated to read books in a cozy reading nook.
