Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love having the opportunity to teach students who are eager to learn and chase their hopes and dreams!
My classroom includes a diverse group of nineteen first graders with a wide range of skill levels and backgrounds.
In my classroom, you will find hardworking children who are learning English as a second language, children who qualify for free lunch, along with children who are challenged academically. My students are what give me a "why" each day and are inspirational!
My Project
My students are first graders who are beginning to read independently. Through interactive whole group read aloud students are exposed to rich text to engage their excitement to read themselves independently. My students would love the rich texts that I have requested to add to our read aloud library.
It is imperative to foster a love of reading within them at this young age to carry on throughout their lifetime!
These books, including The Day the Crayons Came Home and Dragons Love Tacos, would be used during reading lessons to target skills and teach lessons. Some of these stories teach lessons on kindness while others promote diversity! The options are endless for uses of these books, and each would provide joyful reading for all of my students.
