Foster Self-Confidence for All-Combat Bullying Behavior
My students need more books about bullying, like "Bullying in Schools." They also need Microsoft Office software to put on our newly donated laptop, in order to help spread the word about bullying with our school.
Do you recall a time in your life where you felt bad about yourself because of what someone else told you? Did you feel worse when the comments and stares didn't stop? Did you begin to lose comfort with going to school because of the fear of the daily battles with bullying behavior?
Unfortunately, many of us can think of a time and can recall how we felt.
Some of us had a support system to help build us up when we felt "too down" to pick ourselves back up. It seems, more than ever, that parents are taking on more and more responsibilities to provide for their children, which can result in parents not being there or being aware of what their child may go through on a daily basis. That is why educators must be there to help ALL students, whether they are the victim or the bully, and help boost their self-confidence to rise above their obstacles. The end result will be less bullying in school so that students can focus on learning and not what is being said or what may be done to them at or after school. We must have the materials to make this happen. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our newly awarded materials from AJK Books and a laptop, thanks to donors and Townsend Press.
My Project
To better prepare my students, and students in the future, I am requesting more literature that students can read with me or independently about bullying, so they can get a clear picture of the different ways bullying can take form. Also, students can see how characters in the stories overcome bullying, which can greatly influence decision-making when students are faced with bullying in real life. We also need Microsoft Office on our laptop so that students can create a variety of materials to spread the word at our school about bullying. We would also like to request a copy of "Bullying in Schools" to share with any educator at our school who wishes to learn more about bullying and how to help their own classes. The more we can spread the word, the better off all of our children are."Jake Drake, Bully Buster", "Ant and the Big Bad Bully Goat," "Bully B.E.A.N.S.," and "Chester Raccoon and the Big Bad Bully" are among the requested materials to help explain how bullying can take shape.
They also help children understand some of the causes of bullying and what can be done about it.
If students continuously dread coming to school because of bullying, a place where they are supposed to feel safe, then how can we expect them to have self-confidence? If they don't have self-confidence, then how can we expect them to learn? What we do now will impact their lives forever. Let's start immediately by combating bullying.
