Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students I teach are enthusiastic, curious, and passionate about learning. They enjoy face-to-face interactions with their peers even though they sometimes feel shy.
Nearly all of the children I teach here at our Title I school in the inner city come from hard-working immigrant parents that strongly value education.
Although many of my students come from backgrounds of substantial economic hardship, you wouldn't know it by looking at their eager faces. They love coming to school and learning new things.
My Project
In a few days, my new class of amazing 5th graders will return to the classroom for the first time in 18 months. What will they find? Hopefully a class that is chock-full of awesome new supplies and extras to ease the shock of being back in real-world learning environment.
My former ZOOMBIES are desperate for social interaction from their peers.
I hope to provide them with some much-needed classroom games to stimulate their brains and encourage them to come out of their shells. This will be a challenge as many students have been lurking behind screens since March of 2020.
I will have a full-house this year. 33 students and counting! I've ordered things to make classroom life easier and more awesome. The bluetooth speaker will make listening to soothing instrumental music possible during work time. Having soap and disinfectant wipes will go far in keeping us all clean and tidy. Quite simply, everything on this list is an essential item that will make leaving the safe confines of home and rejoining the big, messy world easier for my great big group of 5th graders.
