My Students

For years we have done the same review activities to prepare for tests. Then something new came along. . . and boy was that fun! I borrowed an iPad from a colleague and downloaded the Plickers app. I have never seen such engagement from my students.

My students are high achieving junior high school kids!

They are hard working and absolutely love a challenge! We believe that all students should be challenged, but we never forget that they are kids. For many years, History has taken a backseat to Math and Science. In the the last few years, I have seen a renewed love of history in my students. I want to take advantage of that and instill in them a love of history that will last a life time.

My Project

I have been trying to increase the use of formative assessments in my classroom. I want to know who "gets it" and who doesn't. But I want to find this out in a way that does not single out the students or embarrass them in front of their peers. I recently used an app on a borrowed ipad called "Plickers" and it was amazing. I could tell who was "got it" without the whole class knowing. Even better, the kids loved the game!!!

The use of the iPad to help conduct formative assessments will revolutionize my classroom.

I can get 100% participation EVERY day. Students can make mistakes and not feel embarrassed by them. This will help foster a positive environment in my class room.
