Help me give my students watercolor paper and blank books to help them create paintings and to write and illustrate a book of their own during this time away from the classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a public Montessori school in a low-income neighborhood. Currently, my students are learning from home. I am proud of them because they are doing the best they can, but some assignments have extensions that call for my students to use their creativity, so they need supplies to work through to completion.
My first-graders and second-graders are in need of supplies at home that would normally be available to them at school.
My Project
In a Montessori classroom, after presenting lessons, oftentimes students choose to put what they've learned down on paper through a variety of mediums, such as painting and drawing. One example is they paint shapes that are congruent, similar, and equivalent.
With the art supplies in this project, my students will be able to continue to do this essential part of their work at home.
Even though my students and I are apart because of the pandemic, I hope this project brings us together through the art and literacy in which they create while they are at home.
