This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Please help my students be able to listen to their favorite stories over and over again. My students love to listen to stories and because they are so young they must rely on an adult to read to them. Most of my students parents are too busy trying to make ends meet and don't have the time to read.
My students live in a poverty stricken area with much violence and crime.
They are enthusiastic learners eager to know more. They attend a large elementary with a population of 1200 students. We have a school library but because of our large population my students are unable to attend as often as they would like.
My Project
I am so excited to open up a listening center in my classroom with the minimal space I have. An iPod would be a great asset to this center because it will allow students the opportunity to choose this center, sit with their classmates and enjoy a story of their choice as many times as they would like.
My project is important because it gives me the opportunity to provide my students a literature filled experience that will help in all academic areas.
It is a great way to reinforce many comprehension concepts as well as math, science, health and social studies.
