Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the first time you found that one magical book and just could not put it down? Inspiring children and allowing them to be part of all the magical worlds that books provide is my number one goal every year. The books requested will be read for pleasure everyday and help our love grow!

Our school is a safe haven for all our students.

That haven is put together by teachers who do whatever it takes in inspiring students to succeed, believe in themselves, and grow. Reading books is seen as a hobby rather than a chore in our school. Students jump off their seats when I announce that it is reading for pleasure time in class and they lose themselves in the wonderful worlds that books provide. Our school population is made up of mostly second language learners that face many obstacles outside of our school gates. Once they step inside, all those troubles are left at the door and they know that we believe in them and a bright future is possible for very single child in our school and community.

My Project

The books requested will help continue our goal of reading as many chapter books as possible this year as a class. The books are based on inspirational stories about characters that learn life lessons and triumph through challenges they face. The power of print and the messages that books transcend through time is one of our themes that we study in our language arts curriculum in fourth grade.

For the LOVE of books please help us!

This project is an essential component in helping me teach children to love books and see reading as a hobby. All the children in the picture posted passed the reading comprehension assessments with a score of 80% or more, and this is largely due to loving to read!
