Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a magnet school that focuses on technology. We are a Title 1 School and half of our population is socioeconomically disadvantaged. This is my first year teaching and I want to give these kids everything they deserve. Many of our students come from low-income homes and my students deserve the same opportunities in the classroom as other students are given.
I want my students to feel inspired at school and love their classroom.
Creating a comfortable and positive classroom environment for my students will set them up for success in academics.
My Project
As a first-year teacher, I want to build a classroom library that motivates my students to read! I want to provide a variety of books available for students to read independently as well as during whole group instruction.
I believe that reading is so important for primary students and supplying them with a variety of books that will fit the different interests in my classroom will help students find joy in reading.
I want our classroom library to be a place where students can escape into reading and connect with the books. Many students cannot afford books independently and having a variety of books available in our classroom library will make a huge impact on their learning!
