My young students are Kindergarten age. They are fun, energetic, and curious 5 to 6 year-olds. My students are ready to learn about math, reading, and writing. My students are eager to learn math facts, and how to be a good reader and writer. We like to draw and write in our writing journals, and our teachers help us to write complete sentences. It is exciting to be an author and an illustrator. We are also learning how to add and subtract, use a ten-frame, and count on a number-line. The supplies we need will help to stock up our reading, writing, and math centers. Who knows? Maybe we might have a famous author, illustrator, or the next math genesis in our class!
We currently are in need of a new reading and listening center. We do not have a working listening center and lack books to run this center effectively. This center will provide Kindergarten students with reading, comprehension, listening and writing skills during our Language Arts Block from 8:20 to 10:10 on a daily basis.
I want my students to love reading and to enjoy a good book.
I want children to be alone with a book to see the beauty of the pages and to begin to read words. After actively listening to each story the children will fill out a book review sheet. This will allow students the opportunity to write an opinion piece about the story and rate the story by circling a emoji face and drawing their favorite part. The story book review sheets will be displayed in our writing center bulletin board in class. Who knows? We might have a famous writer and illustrator among us!
