My Students
I teach 3rd grade at a Title I school. Some of my students come from difficult home environments. However, they still come to school every day excited to learn new things. I am able to start my morning off with 20 smiling faces everyday.
My students have a love of reading, and are extremely inquisitive.
Seeing their faces light up when they read something that they are interested in is so amazing. My students inspire me to be a better teacher and deserve so much.
My Project
The Storyworks Jr. magazines will help my students experience different types of interesting text. The magazines match our current state standards and offer grammar, writing, and vocabulary, as well as amazing reading material. My students learning will greatly benefit from exciting and innovative reading material.
Even though most of my students do not have the means to travel, they can use these magazines to read about and look at photographs of many different parts of the world.
Knowledge is power. The more that my students learn and know, the more well rounded people they will become. For example, we live in Florida and majority of my students have never seen snow. Reading about snow and other peoples experiences in snow will help them to be more aware of how people live in other areas around the world.
