My students need class sets of Charlotte's Web and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. These will be used among 4 classes with third grade students so many young readers will benefit from these books each year!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 3rd grade at a Title I school in East San Diego County where my 25 inquisitive students come from very diverse backgrounds. Many students in my class are English learners, including immigrants and refugees. I love the way all of our students instinctively respond to help newcomers! With this diversity comes the need for additional engaging teaching resources to meet the variety of educational needs.
As an inner-city school serving many English learners our resources are limited, so we are grateful for any extra support we receive from the community and beyond!
Thank you for taking the time to read about our needs and considering a donation to our class.
My Project
Our third graders have loved Charlotte's Web so much that we have lovingly read and re-read our class novel set over the years, so much that they have become worn and torn, and are ready for new books! I would like to provide enough copies of Charlotte's Web so all of our third grade classes can read this novel at the same time in the fall as it goes well with our fall science curriculum. We also read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in my third grade class for the first time this year. My students absolutely adored it and I would love to share this wonderful book with our other third grade classes. My students identified with Charlie, the family's struggle to have all that they needed, and celebrated loudly and joyfully when Mr. Wonka awarded Charlie with ownership of the factory at the end of the story!
Our students love learning to read when we have engaging novels such as Charlotte's Web and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
We look forward to reading together each day. Once we've finished a novel study together, struggling readers will often request to re-read these stories as the familiarity helps boost their confidence as they practice and grow in their reading skills because they are now familiar with the vocabulary and story plot. Thank you so much for considering our project. We are grateful for your generosity and support of public education!
