Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to school knowing that they will be challenged and engaged every day. They know that no matter what is happening at home, they are in a safe and happy environment. They know that I am here to help, support, and guide them. I teach at a Title I school where 100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. Over 50% of the students are English Language Learners.
Many of my students have an inconsistent home environment.
They either have only 1 parent at home or are shared week by week. Despite so many hardships, my students are anxious every week to learn something new.
My Project
My students love reading, but my class is only allowed to attend the library once a week due to a shortage of books. We have to compete with three other 4th grade classes for books. My kids cannot afford to buy their own reading books, so your support goes a long way in helping my students get the extra books that they so desperately need.
My students read over 500 books per month.
They are running out of books that they enjoy reading. I have a limited amount of books that I can offer my students. I am in need of new books so my kids can keep up with their peers.
