My students are a pre-k through eighth grade building in an urban district.
I can say with confidence that my students are leaders in the making. We strive on character building and preparing them for their future.
Being a physical education teacher, I have had the pleasure to see how sports can change a bad mood into a good mood or seeing a student needing a friend and a sport pulling them together in unity.
Physical movement improve academics as well as undesired behaviors!
I receive only two hundr4ed dollars a school year to spend on six hundred and twenty-three students which is under three dollars and twelve cents per student. Our physical education equipment is shared between multiple disciplines including recess, phys. ed. and after school programs creating excessive wear and tear and depreciating the life use more quickly.
Our school has recently adapted recess for grades seventh and eighth because we know the link from exercise to academics is imperative in a students learning.
The equipment requested are the three most popular choices among our students.
During physical education classes, we use the basketballs, dodge balls and scooters almost daily, playing a variety of different games. My students would be so happy to see that their scooters do not have cracks in them or their playground balls still have the skin on them and thread can not be seen on their basketballs.
