My Students
I teach at a Title I school in Oregon where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend, and our school also runs a food pantry for our families.
We are an AVID school.
Which means we are preparing every student to be college ready. My students are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding ambassadors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers. They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their long, successful career.
My Project
I want to show my students that math is all around us! This is an opportuity for my students to see that math is fun and it is used in all areas of life from art to nature to games and so much more! Games are a great way to show how math crosses over in all our lives in ways they just don't recongnize as mathametics because it's just fun! It brings kids together using math talk in a stimulating way. Getting students more involved in math will hopefully give them a deeper understanding of concepts and gain their interest in STEM jobs in their future!
