My students love to play and explore using hands-on center activities. Center time allows my students to reinforce what they have learned during whole teaching time. I need your help supplying fun and exciting center items in my classroom that encourage students to become life long learners.
I teach Pre-K in a rural school district in south central Oklahoma.
70% of our student population receives free or reduced lunches. Our school currently has 7 Pre-K and 8 Kindergarten teachers. Our classes average 18 to 21 students. Our students come to us from many backgrounds and are ready and eager to learn. Our school community provides a safe and loving environment where each student can be successful.
My Project
The items requested contain many hands-on center materials including science centers, alphabet blocks and puzzles, letter beads, letter recognition instant learning centers, and alphabet sound picture puzzles, and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) centers. The science hand-on-centers cover topics such as my body, life cycles, nutrition, five senses, plants, weather and seasons, magnets and color mixing. The alphabet blocks, puzzles, and beads promote hand eye coordination along with letter and sound recognition. The STEM Fairy Tale centers promote working together, retelling the story, hand eye coordination, and problem solving. These center items will challenge my students to think and problem solve together while participating in fun learning activities.
Young learners are naturally curious and need to be taught how to be effective problem solvers.
Each of these centers will allow my students to build on their creativity while exploring new and exciting things in our world. My students will learn to work together, communicate with each other, and express their ideas through each of these instant learning centers. My hope is that as my students leave my classroom, they will have a new desire to continue to learn more about science in our world.
