Ms. Martinez from Houston TX is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need engaging on level books, privacy dividers, quality pens and pencils, and other basic supplies to be successful this year!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

"Whatever It Takes!" and "100% Every day!" are not only my schools' mottos but these two phrases live in the forefront of my students' minds. My students come from one of the highest areas of poverty. To reach both of these goals I am looking to fill my classroom with books and basic supplies to reach all learners.
Asking them to purchase the books they want to read isn't a reality that these students have.
So I am reaching out and asking you to sponsor my classroom and give the gift of great reads and basic needs.
I get the privilege of teaching two subjects out of a few different classrooms this year! I am requesting a rolling cart to help ensure although I am a nomadic teacher it will not hinder my students learning in any way.
I get to teach English Language Arts and Reading Intervention for students who would have otherwise not had access to quality education.
The pencils, pens, and paper will be supplied so they can focus on learning and without the worry of having those basic things. The magnets will hold my anchor charts on the magnet board so I will be able to take all my learning materials with me from class to class. My goal is to push rigor while still cultivating a love for reading no matter whose class I will be teaching out of!
The materials my students and I requested will bring the joy of reading into our classroom. These books are hand-picked for my students who don't think there is a Just Right Book for them. A little more than half of my students have entered the sixth grade reading at the third and fourth grade level. They have gone through most of their elementary school career not being successful and hating reading.
