Do you remember when you first figured out that you could read all on your own? Many students in my classroom are finally getting to this point and Dr. Suess has really encouraged this love of reading!
There are 21 high-energy 1st and 2nd graders in our classroom.
Our school is composed of all Native American children from 15 different tribes in 3 different states. We are a boarding school that allows students to get a great education. It can be tough for our students to be so far from home so it is important for teachers to create a welcoming environment.
My Project
The students will be able to use these books while in the reading center as well as whenever they are given free time to read. Many students ask to stay after to read, so these books will also be available to them at this time as well. Due to the nature of Dr. Seuss books they will learn to read rhyming words and how to read with enthusiasm.
Donating to this project will allow our classroom library to expand.
Dr. Seuss books are a favorite in our classroom and at the moment I currently have about 4 of them. I hope that by getting more books into our classroom more students will enjoy the wonders of reading.
