This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
“Every day my students learn something. Some days they bring it home in their hands. Some days they bring it home in their heads. And some days they bring it home in their hearts.”
Despite their challenges, my kids come to class every day with a smile on their face and ready to learn!
They are motivated preschoolers who give their all in the classroom. Simple tasks in the classroom require many materials that my students' families cannot afford. Having these materials are essential to their learning. The materials in my classroom should not be limited by the income of their parents. I want every child in my classroom to have the same opportunities as children from the highest accredited schools.
My Project
These books will add new and exciting titles to our classroom library. I have chosen many books to help with social and emotional learning. At the young age of 4 and 5, it can be hard to express their feelings in an appropriate way so I feel it is very important to teach my students about their feelings and how to express themselves in a way that is kind and safe for everyone. It can also be hard for students entering a social setting for the first time to understand empathy and how to share with others. These books will help teach these important skills.
