It gives me great joy to introduce you to the outstanding students in our classroom family. At this very moment, future YouTube stars, teachers, professional athletes, and engineers are sitting in our room. They have excelled at demonstrating kindness and work hard to learn to be good friends to one another. Many of them have endure difficult situations and still greet me with a smile.
My students love to read.
They come from many different cultures and upbringings. We have chosen books to serve as "windows and mirrors." The "mirror" books represent their culture or home life. They are able to see themselves in the characters and events explained in the stories and have an instant connection to literature. Other books serve as windows and represent cultures and lifestyles far from their own. In this way, we build empathy and broaden our understanding of the world around us.
My Project
Imagine a school where everyone loves to read. A place where students are so excited about books that they cheer when it is time for reading. My goal is to instill a passion for literature so deep that it remain rooted for the rest of their lives. Developing lifelong independent readers is essential because students who read become adults who think. In order to achieve our goal, we need books added to our classroom library.
By donating to this project you will provide our 5th grade classroom with access to books and allow them the opportunity to fall in love with reading.
I believe that reading can change the lives of children and, in turn, change the course of the world. Please help my to surround my students with books and generate excitement about their reading.
