My first grade students live in a big city and are a diverse group of learners. They are six and seven years old and many speak languages other than English at home.
They come to school excited and eager to learn!
They look forward to having a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment to explore, take risks, and be successful learners.
My students are learning to build positive relationships with each other as well as literacy, math, science, and social studies skills.
The materials from this project will help to diversify our classroom library and give my students a variety of books to choose from and enjoy. My students select and read books from our classroom library everyday. Having an ample selection to choose from is very important for them.
My students are always looking for a book that will spark their interest and curiosity.
This project will expand our current classroom book selection and keep students engaged and interested in reading. Having labelled book bins to organize this new book collection will also allow students to find books of interest with ease.
