My Students
The best way to invite young minds into a world of reading is to get a good book in their hands. With personal and school budgets stretched thin, sometimes it's difficult to accomplish this. Help ignite imaginations and inspire!
Sometimes it is difficult to find the resources needed in a large, urban school like the one I teach in. I try to provide my students with the tools needed to foster a love of learning and especially, of reading. My first graders are energetic and inquisitive - and, by the end of the school year, I hope they will be ravenous readers.
My Project
My students are working on building their "independent reading stamina". They will fall in love with characters like Scaredy Squirrel, Chester, and Elephant and Piggie - thus encouraging them to read longer and stronger not just because that is the expectation, but because they enjoy it.
First grade is a crucial year for kids - they are learning to READ! This donation will help to build a classroom library that invites students into a world of lifelong reading, and of learning.
