This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard."
Football games are won or lost on the practice field. We put in endless hours where it really counts.
We are 6th-8th grade public school students from an urban environment.
We play football in the public middle school league. The students are from a high poverty neighborhood, with 100 percent of the students receiving free lunch. The students commit to practice 5 days a week during the school year. Our season starts in September and ends in November.
My Project
The practice football will allow my student athletes to become involved during practices, opposed to using one ball for one drill. This will allow practice and drills to be conducted more efficiently. It will affect the whole team in helping to develop into high school student athletes. The blocking shields will allow my students to master techniques and schemes before applying them during full contact drills. The agility ladder will allow the student athletes to improve their coordination, agility, quickness, and speed.
The student athletes will improve their health, discipline, and football skill set.
Many lessons learned through sports relate and will be applied in situations later in life. Often times sports can bring the spark of inspiration for athletes to become student athletes.
