This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students live uncertain lives under the best of circumstances. They tell me about their worries of food and parents changing jobs. These times, where so many people have been laid off, are very scary for my kids. They have issues with technology and trying to do classwork on cracked phones must be unbelievably frustrating.
My Project
My students have uncertain lives. They never know where the next meal is coming from. Many come from homes where the parent is working constantly, and they themselves are busy working, going to school and taking care of siblings.
These packages of food to be delivered to my students to help them out.
It will be a way to ensure that they are getting something to eat - while our district is passing out bagged lunches, it's not happening every day and I worry that my kids aren't eating in between those days.
