I am a third-grade teacher. I have a wonderful group of students! They are constantly impressing me with their hard-working attitudes, amazing work ethics, and overall positive outlooks on life. I am so proud to be their teacher. They deserve the best education possible.
I teach at a rural, Title I school serving approximately three hundred students.
Every child receives free breakfast and lunch. We are located near a large military base and, as a result, serve children of active duty and retired military. Our school serves students from many socioeconomic backgrounds including homeless students, who at times may live with family, friends, or other relatives.
Our students are bright and eager to learn new things. They are hard workers and strive to make their world a better place.
My Project
I am very excited about this project! If funded, it would offer students healthy snacks and drink options such as Gatorade, cereal, crackers, chips, and other related items. Students tend to get hungry in between meals or especially if they come in late. These items will help with brainpower and energy. This fully-funded project will allow at-risk students an opportunity to fill their void of hunger while at school. I also intend to use these items after school when I hold tutoring and after-school clubs. While at school, I want students to be focused on academics, friendships, and growing personally and academically. Being hungry at school should not be a thought for them. These foods will eliminate the stress of students needing a snack during the day.
Students should be given every opportunity to reach their full potential.
This grant will model for students that nutritious foods affect academia through building thinking skills, checking behavior attitude, and building a strong healthy body. Student academic performance will improve as they are no longer hungry and have food that assists in their health. Their minds should be focused on problem-solving, reading, writing, and playing at recess with their friends! Thank you for your time and support of my classroom.
