My classroom consists of 17 energetic, curious, and imaginative preschoolers! We are a Head Start classroom located in the elementary school of a small school district; elementary, middle, and high school are all in one building. They love to build, create, and explore new concepts and ideas!
Our classroom is a safe space for children dealing with many different issues at home or in their community.
My students work extremely well together, and help each other to make sure that everyone is having a productive day!
My Project
My young students are extremely diverse. We have many children who are learning English as a second language, who really enjoy playing in our housekeeping area. Currently, our play food does not reflect different cultures, and many times our English learning students are unsure of what the food they are playing with is.
By giving my students multicultural food, they can express themselves, and show off their culture to their peers!
My students have shown an interest in cooking and feeding our toy babies, and they request different kinds of food that they eat at home. Multicultural food sets are a great way for all students to learn about different cultures, and explore new ways to "cook" for their toy babies, friends, and teachers!
