Food Cart Lessons: Learning the Value of Money in Kindergarten
My students need a pretend food cart, pretend snacks and frozen treats, and a pretend wallet, so they can learn important lessons about money and finances.
Students in my kindergarten classroom come to school excited about learning. Most of my students come from low-income families, and all the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. This background can mean that students’ families cannot afford to purchase needed school supplies.
My students deserve to receive the best education possible so that they are able to succeed in school and in life.
These boys and girls have such awesome attitudes, and they try their best every day!
My Project
My kindergarten students learn so much through pretend play. They are able to investigate a concept by role playing real life events. My kindergarten students also need to learn important financial literacy related lessons. Even though they are young, they need to begin their paths toward becoming financially literate adults.
I am requesting a pretend snacks and sweets food cart, extra pretend snacks and frozen treats, and a play cash wallet, so my students can practice earning, handling and spending money wisely.
My students will be able to role play various roles including food cart owners, food cart workers and patrons. They will begin to understand that they can earn their own money, through hard work. They will also learn about making wise decisions when they are choosing how to spend their money, using the pretend wallet.
By helping purchase this pretend play food cart, donors will be investing in my students' financial literacy education and helping them learn financial lessons which are extremely important to their futures.
