Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I get to teach the most amazing kids. I know every teacher says that, but mine are truly spectacular. I have a diverse group of learners, many with learning disabilities.
I get to teach 6th grade at a Title I, public school, and my students are currently at a 1st grade achievement level.
Even though we have a lot of work to do academically, they come to school every day eager to dive into work. I hope I can give them the opportunity to succeed in this world.
My Project
These materials will make a HUGE difference in my student's learning. Recently, I asked my classes if they ate breakfast. MANY of them reported that they did not eat breakfast. I started giving them crackers and any other small healthy snacks I could afford to purchase. When I do this, students are awake and engaged in their academic lessons!
This project ensures that not only are the students fed, but they are doing AMAZING in class!
Since I have started this project to feed my students, their scores in class have increased. I want to continue to make sure they have food, but I need help!
