I need funding to attend a physical computing workshop in Indiana this summer.
This project expired on June 13, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
We are a Title I public school district that serves a diverse student population. Over 90% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch.
I serve identified Gifted and Talented students throughout the district in an environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication.
My students are curious and enjoy hands-on learning and discovery using a wide range of resources. My hope is to prepare my students for college and their future careers by giving them opportunities for hands-on learning and exploration.
The goal of this hands-on workshop is to dive into the practice of physical computing in the classroom. By the end of the week, I will be able to write scripts to control the BBC micro: bit, both by itself and with additional components. Also, I will be ready to create my own computer science learning experiences for my students using these tools.
Making and physical computing activities engage students in meaningful computer science experiences through physical tools and hands-on activity.
Physical computing activities such as light-up hats to kinetic artwork empowers students to create projects that are personally meaningful and foster creativity and entrepreneurial thinking.
