Mrs. Dughi from Jacksonville FL is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need books to build their library, improve vocabulary and encourage them to continue reading.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

This is my third year teaching first and second graders. My classroom continues being filled with laughter, a genuine community of thinkers, and eager kids wanting to learn. In our class, we know that despite what may be happening outside, it will not determine our day or our learning. Every day is a new day.
I teach at a Title I school in Florida where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Despite the many obstacles my students face they still want to succeed in school, do their best, and persevere. My students typically start the year below grade level and with grit they put effort to achieve growth throughout the school year. Their effort shows that they want to be in school to continue a successful path. Our classroom is a community belonging to all of us.
The items I am requesting for our classroom are books for our classroom library. The goal of building our classroom library will allow my students to enhance the print-rich classroom that we have created.
My classroom library is a place that my students go to enjoy a book independently or with a partner, or where the students go to pick a book to be shared with the class.
Every student book that is in my library is treated well and my students are thankful for the opportunities to read. These books have been chosen on the reading level of my students and emerging readers. My students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy their reading time.
I am asking for additional reading materials that are at my student's reading levels. These books will allow each student to have a new opportunity with a new book in hand.
